My Emmy has the biggest heart I have even known someone could have. She is the most unselfish child I have ever met. No she is not perfect, but she is ever so sweet nonetheless! Yesterday, we were on our way to Good News Gang and there was a semi on the side of the road. On our way home, the semi was still there. I said to the girls, "Oh-oh, that truck is still there." THere was a little pause and Emmy pipes up and says, "Mom, I feel like I should help that man!"
Have a good day!

Horse back riding
Abhau Creek-- the owners of the ranch are thinking about making a 2 mile zipline down this creek. |
A small waterfall.. this was the destination of our ride. |
The trees were wet and were sparkling in the sunshine (can't wait to edit this pic!) |
Marilyn talking to our guide Martin. For those of you who watch Mantracker, Martin was on 2 shows with Mantracker. 1 they lost, 1 they won! My horse was used in this show. |
The ride back: we went through pasture, forest, wide open fields, etc. |
A little difficult to take pics while riding a horse, especially mine who had a thing for riding the side of the trail. |
Jeopardy.. my horse! |
It was lots of fun.. I was a little sore after though. I think it's been around 18 years since I last rode a horse.
Outside my house
This is a pond that we see from the dining room window. It is generally quite green, but with some wind, can be quite clear. |
A close up of the pond |
I have used the dryer maybe 5 times since moving here 2 1/2 months ago |
This is the view from the kitchen window. |
This is taken from the front door |
This is the road, take from the deck off of the dining room. |
If you come visit me, I will take you here:)
Doggy pile of cousins |
I do believe that experiencing the season of Fall in Quesnel has been one of the most beautiful experiences of nature for me. The poplar leaves, the sunsets, the clean/crisp air. It's indeed AMAZING! I have taken pictures of this place before, it is indeed a beautiful place in the fall, but also the summer. I promise I will take you here if you come visit me in any season but winter!

Thanksgiving weekend
We were privileged to be host and hostess of our dear brother and sister-in-law from last Thursday evening to this past Thursday afternoon. It was a busy week, but lots of fun. The purpose of their visit was to hunt. It might not have been as succesful as they were hoping, but Tony was able to shoot his first deer on Thanksgiving day. Unfortunately, most of us came down with a 24 hour flu so that cut into some hunting time. I was privileged to be spared from it.
One thing I am really thankful for is WATER!! Where we live now, their water comes from a well. For some reason the pump stopped working. I went to go turn the tap on and nothing came out. It was a scary moment as there were 4 adults and 7 kids. Fortunately it happened late in the evening and by morning we had a full tank again and have had no problems since.
On Saturday night, we went together to Ten Mile Lake where the men dropped us off and went hunting. We stayed behind to enjoy some heat from the fire while the girls and Tyler played on the playground and walked by the lake. We were able to witness an amazing sunset.. Pics coming!!
On Wednesday, the men and Jesse went on a full day hunt. Marilyn and I took the rest of the kids to the leisure centre and then to McDonalds, where we were able to watch 8 deer graze about 150 ft from where we were sitting. Marilyn was actually able to get about 20 feet away from a buck and a fawn. Unfortunately, I did not have my camera with and Marilyn brought her camera along WITHOUT the battery.
On Thursday, yesterday, Marilyn and I went horseback riding. Everyone went along for this trip. At the ranch, they saddled 2 horses for the kids to ride. The kids also had a campfire and roasted little smokies and marshmallows. We got a really good deal as there was a mix-up with the booking. The Mr. had booked us for 10:00 and the Mrs. had booked someone that was visiting from England for 11:00. He was living out of a motorhome so there was no way to contact him. So the Mr. who was the guide, took us on a 1/2 loop and then back to the ranch to pick up the other guy and then we went to some canyon/falls and back. That ride was 2 hours long. Check out the ranch at http://www.triplejranch.bc.ca/. It's a beautiful place with amazing hosts/hostesses. Now today I am taking the day off, catching up on some downtime and looking forward to a day of hunting tomorrow. Hopefully i can update soon with some pictures of dead animals :)
ENJOY!!!

A Feast Fit for a King
I am sure you were expecting a blog on food when you read the title, but that in fact was the title for this past Sunday's sermon! And here it is:
James 1: 19-27
So what I am really talking about when I say it is a feast fit for a king??? The Bible!!! And it is a feast.. isn't it. Full of guidance, love, compassion, displine, encouragement... and the list goes on. It can be such a blessing in our lives if we let it. But to be blessed by it, we need to receive it:
James 1:21 "Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you"
With the right attitude we can receive God's word and be blessed by it
1. Be careful-- quick to listen and slow to speak
2. Be calm-- slow to anger
3. Be compliant-- humbly accept the word that is being planted
4. Be clean-- get rid of the filth in our lives
Another way to be blessed by God's word is to reflect on it. To reflect is to think deeply or carefully about. I am learning what "deeply" means during this Bible Study that I attend. It's not just reading but also searching, reviewing and remembering. By that, I mean looking carefully at what we read, pondering, considering and meditating on it, so we can remember it.
And finally, we need to respond to God's Word. We find in Matthew 7:24-27 an example of responding to God's word:
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
and also in John 13:17
" If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them. "
How do we know that we are practicing God's word? We will have a controlled mouth, a caring heart, and a clean mind. We need to refuse to let the world corrupt us and with the right attitude and much prayer, we can. We need to pray for wisdom so that we may live our life with our hearts prepared for the seed of GOd's word.
ON another note, I was privileged to be the story reader at the Kerlsey GOOD NEWS GANG. Good News Gang is a ministry at Northstar Church that meets every Monday night during the school year at 3 separate locations in Quesnel. It is free and involves games, songs, story, craft and snacks. It is open to any child in the neighborhood, church going or not. The purpose of this group is to let kids know that Jesus saves. And because there is not alot to do for young kids in Quesnel, people will let their kids come. Please pray that this work will be blessed, and that through these kids, parents may realize their needs also!
God bless you all!
