Mother's Day Weekend

With John working out of town, he is not home for all special days.  He was gone for Kenna's b-day, and will be gone for Emmy's b-day but... he was home for Mother's Day and will hope to be home for my (ahem) 30th b-day!
For mother's day, we took advantage of the warm weather and went camping for 3 days. What better way to spend a special weekend, then together camping, boating and fishing. Just the look on the girls' faces when they were reeling in their first fish was priceless.  It was HOT for the first 2 days, and we all got some color. And then there were the mosquitoes. I think I got 25 bites between my knees and ankles, never mind the one on the lip and the eyelid. And most of those were done during the night when I was "sleeping".
And to top it off, I got a Tassimo machine with chai tea latte packets, all thanks to Kenna who put the bug in her daddy's ear! I would have been just as happy if I would have just got a card from her.  It was touching to read it:
Emmy said: Best mom forever!
Kenna said: You have shone light into our lives. What mom took us to the store and got candy for us, you! What mom loves us soooo much you!

I will end with some pics of camping

Happy 9th Birthday! party

Do you find it as hard to believe as I do that I have a 9 year old child??! What a blessing these 9 years have been. She is growing up to be such a beautiful girl and our prayer for her is that she will strive to be a Proverbs 31 woman.
We had a discussion about boyfriends!! When is a good age! How old was I when John was my boyfriend! (too young I told her) And I told her that she is allowed to have friends that are boys, but she needs to wait awhile before she thinks about boyfriends. I mentioned that she needs to pray that God will show her the right man! I didn't go too much into details as to what she should look for, because I don't think she is ready for that! But this was supposed to be a birthday post :)
She invited all the girls in her class, but only 4 showed up, which was a nice size. |We started out with painting pots, then had cake, then opened presents, then played bowling, played on the trampoline and in the treehouse, and then came back inside for candy, watermelon and strawberries, and chips.

Because JOhn was going to be gone for McKenna's birthday, we celebrated with him first. We took the girls bowling and then stopped by the Quesnel bakery for a treat. JOhn has pics of bowling on his phone. She got to open some small presents also. She got a matching shorts and tank top and a sun dress, a fishing rod, and a lamp to match her new quilt that I making for her bed.

All decorated and ready for her party: pink, black and white theme.

I got this idea off of pinterest. I really like how it turned out. Will I do it again anytime soon??? Probably not :)

Inside the cake: layered icecream sandwiches with caramel sauce and toffee bits in the middle!

Score: 14 points!

Painting pots: I was so busy doing mine, that I didn't get any pictures of Kenna doing hers. This girl came later so I quickly took some pictures so that I had some for her scrapbook!
