Potluck Breakfast

It is not an unusual thing to have a potluck breakfast at a ladies get together.  I was priveleged to be part of one today.  It is complete yumminess.  Today's menu was:
-devilled eggs
-cinnamon buns
-bacon quiche
-oven french toast
-apple crisp
-harvest loaf

I couldn't decide what I was in the mood for so I made both bacon quiche (the kind that has no crust since the crust is in the egg mixture itself) and I made oven french toast.  I got rave reveiws on the french toast so I will share the recipe with you!

OVEN FRENCH TOAST

thick sliced white bread           2 tsp cinnamon
3/4 cup margarine                   2 eggs
3/4 cup brown sugar               1 1/2 cups milk

Melt margarine; pour over bottom of a cookie sheet.  Combine brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over melted margarine.  In a bowl, mix eggs and milk.  Dip bread in milk mixture and lay over brown sugar mix. Bake at 350 until bread appears dry, about 15-20 minutes.  With the brown sugar and cinnamon, there is no need for sticky syrup.

**I used thick sliced raisin bread and it was extra yummy!
**I halved the recipe and made it in a 9x 13 pan and it worked just fine.

Home made pizza

PIZZA

Dough:

2 cups water
2 tsp. yeast
2 tsp. oil
2 tsp. salt
5 cups flour
1 tsp. garlic powder (optional)
2 tsp. italian seasoning (optional)

Combine all ingredients.  Let rest for 20 minutes.  Put in 3 pizza pans.

To assemble pizza:
1/2 jar classico pesto
1/2 can hunt's tomato sauce
leftover meat (I used sliced sandwich meats and chopped summer sausage.  You can use bacon, chicken, ground beef, etc)
onion
red pepper ( I stir-fried onion and red pepper together before putting on pizza.
mushrooms
shredded cheese

Put pizza dough in greased pizza pans. Layer ingredients in order listed.  Bake at 350 for 1/2 hour or until crust is browned and cheese is melted.

ENJOY!!

a few more pics of our new home

T.H.E.  G.R.A.N.D.  O.L.E.  T.O.U.R.

(I guess it's a little crazy when you have 4 posts in 1 day.  Other than Kenna's b-day, which will be another post for another day, I do believe you will be disappointed in the amount of posts you will get in the future.. so ENJOY!)

This is the toy room.  It is taken from the stairs that go upstairs.

This is my laundry room (duh).  When you come down the stairs, you turn right to go into it.

This take from the laundry room doorway.  The carpet is the toy room, the lino will be our office/scrapbook room.  John wants to set up his bullet making stuff.  He doesn't know it yet, but he isn't! :)

The mudroom.  It houses the extra fridge and freezer and his tools. The door takes you outside.

My lovely kitchen of yellow.  It is quite bright, a little brighter than what the picture is.  I am standing by the door that we use to enter/exit the house.

My living room.  Not much else to say.  The carpet is actually kinda a blue/grey color.

The bathroom.  LOVELY color!

Taken from the living room.

Guess who's bedroom!  This house is severly lacking in closet doors.

Last, but not least.  The queen's room.  She thinks she is pretty cool cuz she has a big bed all to herself.  If you look close enough, there is not 1 but 2 people in that bed!! This will be the spare room.  So come on over!

That's our home in a few pictures.  Since the last time I posted Just a tease, the grass and trees have greened up alot and it is actually very beautiful  out there.

The post that should have come before the last post

Do ever regret something that you didn't do and wish that you could turn back time to do it differently?  I do.

It seems like every time I go to Chilliwack, I don't take enough pictures.  It is not because I don't have my camera with me, for I do, but I come home and realize that I really didn't take pictures of half the things I did out there.

For example... I don't have 1 single picture of the beautiful bride that my sis-in-law was last Thursday.
I don't have any pics of the girls with their grandparents.
I don't have any of the girls are prettied up at the wedding.
It's shameful.. REAL shameful.
I will share with you the pictures that I do have:

This is at the wedding.  I sat with my sis-in-law and Ali, my cute little almost 14 month old neice.  Thus the high chair.  Mckenna, being the clown that she is, put on the baby attire and plopped her bottom in the highchair. She didn't last very long.. I am thinking it probably wasn't comfy!

Emmy with my one and only sis!  Ain't she pretty??

We sure were spoiled by my mom and dad (by more that just them but I will tell you about them because i have pictures). Dad took us out for lunch at Mcdonalds on Wednesday.  Mom couldn't join us because she had a migraine.  She more than made up for it on Friday.   We went to DQ for lunch and then to the Leisure Centre with a bunch of my family and then we went bowling.

Here is Emmy with her special Grandma.

Emmy was a real pro bowler.  If she would have had a bit more strength behind her roll, she would have had several strikes!

Here is what my week was like out in Chilliwack:

-we went and visited old neighbors
-we went to John's sis's house
-we went to another sis's house for supper and stayed there until 10:30 at night

Sunday was church.

Monday we came home.
It was quite a relaxing trip inspite of all we did.  There was nothing we HAD to do, so we did what we could do.. and no more.

Thanks to all who had us over and to those who hosted get to gethers (TWICE) at their house for us. We feel the love!!

A beautiful visitor

There are some interesting visitors that frequently visit us, out here in our neck of the woods.  Some, we can catch on camera.. clearly.. others, we haven't.  It could be from lack of effort.  It didn't take much to get a picture of these guys.

My hummingbird feeder is outside my dining room window.  This one actually let me open the door (which is stiff) and lean outside the door to snap this picture:

If my research has taken me to the right information, this is a male rufous hummingbird.  For all those bird lovers who naturally know more than me, feel free to correct me if I am wrong :)

Mckenna got a hummingbird feeder for her birthday present which we hung a distance from the house.  I was working near it when I heard them. Besides the fact that I nearly got attacked by them, I did get an o.k. pic:

This one could be the same bird, but I love how this pic shows the vibrant yellow/orange on his throat.

Hope you enjoy these pics as much as I do EVERYTIME I look at them!
