The girls were involved in the school's Christmas play. The play was called "Cinderella meets her Prince." It
took the story of Cinderella, but changed it to have a Christmas theme. The role the girls played, was just fill-in singing and dancing.
Below is Cinderella's stepmother's house
The stepmother and step-sisters (To avoid hurting anyone's feelings, all the step sisters were boys!)
Here is Cinderella, doing her housework, while the step mother and step sisters have gone to the ball.
All the mice dancing to the tune of "You Can Drive my Car" by the Beatles
Mary, Joseph, "baby Jesus", the wise men and the step mother
Cinderella finally meets the Prince
The finale
Although the play had a good story, the message was very shallow, or fluffy as many like to call it! Cinderella wants to go to the ball to meet the Prince but must stay home to clean the house. When her guardian angel comes to tell her that the Prince has beckoned to see her. Cinderella says she can't go because she is not dressed, and has no dress to attend such a royal ball. Her gaurdian angel tells her that the Prince does not care how she is dressed. She has been a good girl (shallow!) and that's what matters. In the end, Cinderella gets to hold the Prince, and the stepmother and step sisters apologize for the way they treated her. The narrator ends with a line something along the lines that Jesus has come to give us a fresh start, a new beginning. (shallow!) The girls had fun dancing and singing, but were disappointed that they did not ever get to watch the actual play. A wonderful lady borrowed me her video camera, and I was able to video the whole thing. This same lady, who works at the Walmart Photo Centre, transferred the video clips onto DVD all for free! So when/if you come see me, ask about the DVD and I would love to show it to you!
